14 suspected IS members detained in several Turkish provinces — Interior Ministry

The Turkish law enforcement officers are constantly working to identify supporters and members of the IS and cells of the organization in the country

ANKARA, April 9. /TASS/. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the detention of 14 people suspected of involvement in the activities of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia).

"In coordination with the Prosecutor General's Office, the General Directorate of Security and the Department for Combating Terrorism, police raids were carried out against suspects in cooperation with the IS in four provinces - Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Samsun and Yalova," the minister wrote on his page on the social network X.

According to him, five people were detained in Eskisehir, six in Yalova, two in Gaziantep, and one suspect was caught in Samsun.The Turkish law enforcement officers are constantly working to identify supporters and members of the IS and cells of the organization in the country.

Over the past year, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, almost 3,000 supporters of this terrorist organization have been detained in the republic. Some of them have been arrested and many have been extradited.
