South Korea pledges $2.3 bln in aid to Ukraine

According to the report, Seoul does not supply Kiev with arms and ammunition, but has provided it with humanitarian and financial assistance

SEOUL, April 5. /TASS/. South Korea will allocate $2.3 billion in aid to Ukraine starting from 2024, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul said during a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries and their partners.

"Minister Cho Tae-yul said that our country will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine for the sake of restoring peace and that a medium-and long-term package of $2.3 billion will be allocated from this year," the South Korean Foreign Ministry said.

Furthermore, South Korea will allocate $12 mln through the NATO fund for rehabilitation centers dedicated to helping wounded Ukrainian servicemen.

South Korea does not supply Kiev with arms and ammunition, but has provided it with humanitarian and financial assistance.

Cho Tae-yul also repeated claims that North Korea is allegedly supplying weapons to Russia in violation of UN resolutions and that this poses a threat to the Korean Peninsula. He added that the potential transfer of Russian advanced technology and oil to Pyongyang would pose a threat to the non-proliferation regime.

The South Korean Foreign Minister criticized Russia for using its veto power in the UN, which resulted in the failure to extend the mandate of the panel of experts of the sanctions committee against North Korea.
