Iranian authorities debunk reports of clashes at border with Afghanistan

Deputy Governor of the Sistan and Baluchistan Province Alireza Marhamati noted that "no clashes took place" and the border is open

DUBAI, April 4. /TASS/. The Iranian and Afghan border security have not clashed at the border on Thursday, says Alireza Marhamati, Deputy Governor of the Sistan and Baluchistan Province.

"An insignificant conflict occurred at the border in Afghanistan this evening, which has already been resolved," he said according to IRNA.

He noted that "no clashes took place" and the border is open.

Previously, Aamaj News reported citing its sources that the Taliban movement [outlawed in Russia] clashed with the Iranian border security in the Nimruz Province in southwestern Afghanistan. According to the sources, the Taliban detained one Iranian border security officer, and the border was shut down because of the clashes.
