MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Ukraine’s Burshtyn and Ladyzhyn thermal power plans were seriously damaged and disabled, it will take years to repair them, DTEK CEO Dmitry Sakharuk said.

"The strongest strike occurred on March 22 […] there is a lot damage to the energy sector, we have lost 50% of the set capacity," he said in an interview with Ukrainian media. "All power units at Burshtyn and Ladyzhyn thermal power plans were damaged. The power units are in various degree of destruction: from 50% to total."

In addition, the Kurakhovo power plant is also seriously damaged and non-operational.

According to his assessment, it would take months, even years to repair them. Overall, the Ukrainian energy grid lost up to 2 Gigawatts of power, Sakharuk noted.

Previously, Ukrainian officials announced that it would also take years to repeat the damaged thermal power plant number 5 in Kharkov and the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant.

On March 22, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive retaliation strike with precision weapons and drones at Ukrainian energy and military-industrial complex facilities, which led to disorganization of industry, destruction of foreign-made military vehicles and disruption of military personnel rotation.
