Transnistria notifies peacekeepers about opening of voting stations for Russian elections

It was reported that "the situation in the security zone remains under control of the joint peacekeeping forces, it remains controllable, and no preparations for any combat action has been registered"

CHISINAU, March 14. /TASS/. The authorities of Transnistria notified the peacekeepers in the security zone about the opening of voting stations for the Russian presidential elections in the unrecognized republic, says Oleg Belyakov, co-chairman of the peacekeeping operation’s Joint Control Commission.

"On March 17, elections of the President of the Russian Federation will take place in Transnistria, to which extent the following voting stations, located within the Security Zone, will open for citizens of the Russian Federation," Belyakov said during a briefing after the commission meeting.

He underscored that the meeting participants received two reports from the joint military command. It was reported that "the situation in the security zone remains under control of the joint peacekeeping forces, it remains controllable, and no preparations for any combat action has been registered," Belyakov noted.

Previously, the Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov said that the Moldovan Foreign Ministry stated its protest over the opening of voting stations in Transnistria.
