Lavrov's visit to Havana confirms strengthening Russian-Cuban ties — Cuban president

The Russian foreign minister was in Cuba on a working visit, with Havana the first stop on his three-country swing through Latin America

HAVANA, February 20. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to the Cuban capital confirms the continuous strengthening of Russian-Cuban ties, which rest on a solid historical foundation, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said at his meeting with Lavrov.

"We welcome a true friend of Cuba, a man who has shown great sensitivity and understanding of our problems," the head of state said. "We are very pleased that you have come to visit with such a large delegation. The fruitful negotiations and meetings held are undoubtedly another confirmation of the strengthening of bilateral relations between Cuba and Russia day by day. We always confirm that these are relations that have a solid historical foundation and have stood the test of time."

The Russian foreign minister was in Cuba on a working visit, with Havana the first stop on his three-country swing through Latin America. Earlier, he held talks with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
