Only matter of time until Ukraine becomes member of NATO — Lithuanian president

According to Gitanas Nauseda, the July 2023 NATO summit that was held in Vilnius dispelled any doubt about Ukraine’s NATO future

VILNIUS, January 10. /TASS/. Ukraine will ultimately be admitted to NATO but it is not yet clear when, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said.

"There is no question about Ukraine’s membership in NATO. The only question is when it will be admitted to the alliance," he told journalists.

According to Nauseda, the July 2023 NATO summit that was held in Vilnius dispelled any doubt about Ukraine’s NATO future. "Very important decisions on closer relations between Ukraine and NATO were made in Vilnius," he said, adding that his country will continue to support Ukraine in its NATO-ward movement.

It should be noted however that the Vilnius summit yielded no clearly-worded proposals concerning Ukraine’s bid for NATO membership.
