German Finance Ministry announces freezing 4.1 bln worth Russian assets

Accoridng to the spokesman of the German Finance Ministry, this comprises all the assets subjected to sanctions

BERLIN, December 28. /TASS/. German authorities froze Russian assets totaling about 4.1 bln euro within the framework of the EU sanctions, a spokesman of the German Finance Ministry told reporters at a briefing.

"This comprises all the assets subjected to sanctions, covering frozen money, economic resources of individuals, and blocked assets of the Russian Central Bank," the spokesman said.

The German Office of Prosecutor General announced earlier that it had applied to court to collect Russian assets totaling more than 720 mln euro. The application undergoes preliminary consideration and no decision has been made so far to start main legal proceedings.
