Israel to release 39 inmates on November 24 as part of deal with Hamas — TV

According to the report, women and male teenagers below 18 years of age will be among those to be released

NEW YORK, November 24. /TASS/. On Friday, November 24, Israel will release 39 Palestinians from its prisons as part of a deal with radical Palestinian movement Hamas, CNN reported citing an Israeli official.

According to the report, women and male teenagers below 18 years of age will be among those to be released. They will be taken to their cities in the West Bank when Hamas releases hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari announced earlier that the first group of hostages will be released by Hamas at 2:00 p.m. GMT on Friday.

Hamas announced on November 22 that an agreement on a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had been reached through the mediation of Qatar and Egypt. The movement confirmed that the agreement stipulated the release of 50 women and children under the age of 19 who are held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 150 women and children under the age of 19 from Israeli prisons.

Tzachi Hanegbi, the head of Israel's National Security Council, said that the release of hostages held in Gaza was unlikely to begin before November 24.
