Attack in Iranian defense facility not to impact plans of peaceful nuclear development

TEHRAN, January 29. /TASS/. Saturday’s drone attack on a defense ministry’s facility in Iran’s Isfahan will not influence Iran’s plans to develop peaceful nuclear technologies, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday.

"Dastardly steps have been taken to weaken Iran’s security, but they will not be able to influence the will and plans of our experts to develop peaceful nuclear technologies," the Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying after the talks with his visiting Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

The IRNA news agency reported on Sunday night that a powerful explosion rocked the city of Isfahan in central Iran. Later, the Iranian defense ministry said that a drone attack had been attempted on one of its centers at about 23:30 local time on Saturday. One drone was downed and the other two to got into defensive traps and exploded. No one was hurt, minor damage was incurred. However, Tehran did not say who it thought to be responsible for the attack.
