Nalgae storm affects over 4.62 mln people in Philippines, leaves 156 dead, 141 injured

BANGKOK, November 6. /TASS/. The severe tropical storm Nalgae that battered the Philippines, has affected more than 4.62 mln people, leaving 156 people dead, according to a report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Sunday.

Some 1.02 mln displaced persons are in 954 evacuation centers now, according to the Council. More than 355,400 people left homes before the storm. At least 141 people sustained various injuries, while 37 people are reported missing. In 13 regions of the republic 1,570 incidents connected with related floods and landslides were registered.

The storm damaged 31,500 houses and ruined more than 3,100 of them. It also damaged 508 roads and 120 bridges. The loss to 722 infrastructure facilities is estimated at 4.3 bln peso ($73.88 mln).

The tropical storm Nalgae struck the Philippines on October 29. Its center tracked across the northern part of the country, where thousands of people were evacuated from regions prone to floods and landslides. After hitting the Philippines, Nalgae moved over the South China Sea.
