US shirks contacts with Russia over Syria, this is counterproductive — Bogdanov

According to deputy foreign minister, the Russian side was always ready to communicate, to discuss the optimal solutions of the problems the region in general and Syria in particular are experiencing, but the Americans remained elusive

KAZAN, May 19. /TASS/. The United States shirks contacts with Russia over Syria. This is a destructive and counterproductive stance, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on the sidelines on the 13th international economic summit Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022.

"For now, there are no contacts. We are always ready to communicate, to discuss the optimal solutions of the problems the region in general and Syria in particular are experiencing, but the Americans remain elusive. They avoid contacts with us," Bogdanov said in reply to a TASS question. "This stance looks absolutely destructive and counterproductive to me."
