BUENOS AIRES, February 10. /TASS/. The government of Chile has reached agreement on possible future deliveries of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19, Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris said.
"We have come to an agreement for receiving doses of this vaccine in future," the ADN Radio quoted him as saying.
The minister went on to say that the government of Chile "will be able to launch negotiations with the company for future purchases of the vaccine" after the country’s Public Health Institute of Chile (ISP) receives and analyzes documents that prove its safety and effectiveness.
On August 11, 2020, Russia became the first worldwide to register a vaccine against the coronavirus dubbed Sputnik V. It was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Healthcare Ministry. Sputnik V is a human adenovirus-based vector vaccine. The Sputnik V jab has already been registered in Russia, Belarus, Argentina, Bolivia, Serbia, Algeria, Palestine, Venezuela, Paraguay, Turkmenistan, Hungary, the UAE, Iran, the Republic of Guinea, Tunisia and Armenia.
