ANKARA, November 17. /TASS/. Turkey’s parliament has approved the president’s decree on sending troops to Azerbaijan, as follows from the document published in the parliament’s database on Tuesday.

President Tayyip Erdogan’s decree was supported by the lawmakers from the ruling Justice and Development Party, the opposition Republican People’s Party, the Nationalist Movement Party, and the Good Party.

Under the decree, Turkey will send its troops to Azerbaijan for a term of one year.

Renewed clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia erupted on September 27 in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on a complete ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh starting from November 10. Under the document, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides are to maintain the positions that they held and Russian peacekeepers are to be deployed to the region.

A memorandum on the establishment of a Russian-Turkish ceasefire monitoring center in Nagorno-Karabakh was signed on November 11 after online talks between Russian and Turkish Defense Ministers, Sergei Shoigu and Hulusi Akar.
