NUR-SULTAN, April 25. /TASS/. Participants in the international meeting on Syria held in the Kazakhstani capital on April 25-26 express optimistic outlooks, Russian presidential envoy for Syrian settlement Alexander Lavrentyev told a press conference on Thursday.

"Consultations are held in a good business-like atmosphere, and we think that they will lead to certain progress in normalizing the situation in Syria and launching a political process. It is good to see that all participants in the Astana format have positive attitudes and do everything possible to facilitate moving forward on the path of such a complicated issue as the settlement of the Syrian conflict," Lavretyev said.

Among events planned for Friday are trilateral consultations with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen and coordination of several issues pertaining to the formation of a Syrian constitutional committee. "I want to note that several unclear issues remain on this difficult path. However, the decision on such a comprehensive process is moving forward. I think that all these matters will be submitted for everyone's consideration at tomorrow's plenary session," the diplomat concluded.
