‘Better to be a cat in a bag than a wolf in sheep’s clothing,’ Zelensky says to Poroshenko

During the debates, Pyotr Poroshenko has compared Zelensky to "a beautiful wrapper", covering former Ukrainian political forces that want a rematch

KIEV, April 19. /TASS/. Incumbent Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has compared presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky to "a beautiful wrapper", covering former Ukrainian political forces that want a rematch.

"Vladimir is a great actor, perhaps, a good person, but today he’s not a cat in a bag, he is a bright wrapper covering those who had run from the country since 2013, and who now want to return to Ukraine to have a rematch. We will not let this happen. <…> And we won’t let those cats in a bag, or, so to say, the devils in your wrapper, destroy our country," Poroshenko said during the debates held at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.

"I think it is better to be a cat in a bag than a wolf in a sheep’s clothing," Zelensky quipped in response.

Around 22,000 people attended the presidential debates held at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Friday evening.

The runoff of Ukraine’s presidential elections is scheduled for April 21 and will feature head of the Servant of the People party Vladimir Zelensky going up against incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko. The first round took place on March 31 and saw Zelensky receiving 30.24% of the votes, almost twice as much as Poroshenko, who got 15.95%.
