Putin offers condolences to Germany over Madeira bus crash

The German side did not name the official number of victims yet

MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and German Chancellor Angela Merkel over a bus crash on Madeira Island in Portugal, in which German citizens were killed. The telegram was published on the Kremlin’s website on Thursday.

"Accept my deepest condolences on the death of German citizens in the car accident on Madeira Island. I ask you to convey my words of support and sympathy to the relatives and friends of the deceased and wish the speediest recovery to all the injured," according to the telegram.

On Wednesday at about 18:30 local time (20:30 Moscow time) a bus carrying about 50 passengers turned over in Madeira. Twenty-nine people were killed in the accident. There were mainly tourists from Germany among the victims, supposedly. The German side did not name the official number of victims yet.
