MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. The increased US and NATO military presence being imposed on Estonia will not contribute to stability in the region, Russia’s Ambassador to the country, Alexander Petrov, told TASS in an interview on Thursday.

"We can also feel the concern of Estonian citizens about the course toward increasing the US and NATO military presence on their territory, which is now being imposed on Europe and, consequently, on Estonia," he said. "This does not contribute to strengthening peace and stability on our continent."

"Our proposals in that regard are well known," he added.

The NATO summit in Warsaw in July 2016 ruled to deploy additional NATO forces in East Europe, including in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters last week that Vladimir Putin planned to meet with Kaljulaid during her visit to Moscow on April 18, during which she will take part in a ceremony to unveil the Estonian embassy building after renovation.
