US North Korea envoy to visit Russia April 17-18

The US Department of State reported that Stephen Biegun will meet with Russian officials in Moscow "to discuss efforts to advance the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea"

WASHINGTON, April 16. /TASS/. US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will visit Russia on April 17-18 to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the press service of the US Department of State reported on Tuesday.

According to the press service, Biegun will meet with Russian officials in Moscow "to discuss efforts to advance the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea."

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov earlier said that the US envoy was expected to pay a visit to Russia in April. The previous round of consultations between Morgulov and Biegun was held in Washington in January.

The second US-North Korean summit was held in Hanoi on February 27-28. The two leaders were expected to sign a declaration following the meeting. However, the summit ended earlier than planned. The parties failed to reach a consensus but agreed to continue dialogue. The so-called Hanoi declaration was not signed either.
