Militants shell settlements in two Syrian provinces — Russian reconciliation center

Head of the Russian reconciliation center Viktor Kupchishin said that militants have shelled settlements in the Latakia province and the city of Aleppo in the Aleppo province over the last 24 hours

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Militants have shelled settlements in the Syrian province of Latakia, as well as the city of Aleppo in the past 24 hours, Major-General Viktor Kupchishin, head of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the conflicting sides in Syria, said on Tuesday.

"Illegal armed units in the Idlib de-escalation zone continue violating the ceasefire. During the past 24 hours, militants have shelled the settlements of Safsafa (once), Iqqo (twice) Ruaiset-Iskander (once), Jubb-al-Zarur (once), Kalaat-Maraza (once), Nahsheba (once), Jurin (once) in the Latakia province, and the city of Aleppo in the Aleppo province (once)," Kupchishin said.

He reminded that the Syrian authorities continued granting amnesty to people who had dodged military service, including former members of armed units and refugees. As many as 57,445 people were amnestied as of April 8.

Moreover, about 31,500 residential buildings have been restored, as well as 153 medical and 842 educational facilities.

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill the tasks assigned to them after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. They regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on aiding the refugees who are returning back to their homes and evacuating civilians from the war-torn country’s de-escalation zones.
