MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Egypt and Jordan on April 5-7 in order to hold meetings with the two countries’ leaders and top diplomats, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"On April 5-7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will make a working visit to Egypt and Jordan. He is scheduled to meet with the two countries’ heads and top diplomats. While in Cairo, Lavrov is also expected to hold a meeting with the Arab League secretary general," she said.

According to Zakharova, the parties will discuss the implementation of agreements reached at high-level meetings, paying particular attention to joint economic projects and efforts to boost humanitarian and cultural ties.

"We also expect there will be a thorough exchange of views on key regional and international issues with the focus on the need to pool efforts to find political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as to resolutely fight against international terrorism and counter the spread of radical ideas," she pointed out. "As Egypt is presiding over the African Union in 2019, there are plans to discuss practical ways to coordinate preparations for the Russia-Africa summit scheduled to take place in Sochi in October," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
