Lavrov: Montenegro, North Macedonia will be forced to buy US-made weapons

Military facilities on these lands "will not bring joy to anyone," Russia's top diplomat stressed

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Montenegro’s accession to NATO and attempts to draw North Macedonia into the alliance will result in military facilities appearing on their soil, and they will have to purchase US-made weapons, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily posted on the paper’s website on Wednesday.

"Now that Montenegro has become a NATO member, and [North] Macedonia is being drawn into it, I am certain that military facilities will appear there," he noted. "That will not bring joy to anyone. Military infrastructure is again moving eastwards. They will be forced to spend money to purchase US-made weapons, while the situation in Europe will not be more stable.".
