About 150 people gather outside Ukraine’s election authority headquarters

Two tents with no party symbols had been installed outside the Central Election Commission’s main office in Kiev

KIEV, March 31. /TASS/. About 150 people gathered outside the headquarters of Ukraine’s Central Election Commission, the country’s interior ministry said on Sunday citing national police chief Sergei Knyazev.

"I can confirm that as of 20:00 (local time) about 150 people gathered outside the Central Election Commission. They do not violate public order and pose no threat to security. We have enough police and National Guard officers in the area to keep the situation under control," the official was quoted as saying in Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Twitter.

A TASS correspondent earlier reported from the scene that two tents with no party symbols had been installed outside the Central Election Commission’s headquarters in Kiev. Besides, a crowd of athletic young people was also spotted in the area. Later, lawmakers representing the party of presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko confirmed that the tents were installed by their activists.
