Ukrainian authorities register 950 violations at ongoing election

According to the police, the violations are mainly related to illegal campaigning, bribery of voters, damaging ballots, and attempts of taking ballots away from the polling station

KIEV, March 31. /TASS/. Ukraine’s police has registered 950 reports of violations during the presidential elections on Sunday, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

"According to data as of 4:00 pm, the police have received 950 statements and reports related to the electoral process. They [violations] are mainly registered in Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Lugansk and Vinnitsa regions," the ministry noted.

According to the ministry, the violations are mainly related to illegal campaigning, bribery of voters, damaging ballots, photographing ballots and attempts of taking ballots away from the polling station.

"According to these facts, 12 criminal proceedings have been initiated. In addition, the police have drawn up four administrative protocols," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

Ukraine's presidential election is underway and polls will close at 20:00 local time on Sunday. A record number of candidates - 39 - are running in the presidential race.
