Two NATO ships to call at Odessa port on April 1, says paper

The frigate Toronto of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Santa Maria frigate of the Spanish Navy will arrive in Odessa after patrolling the Black Sea

KIEV, March 27./TASS/. Two NATO naval ships will call at Ukraine’s sea port of Odessa on April 1, the day after the presidential election, the Evropeiskaya Pravda online edition reports referring to the press service of the NATO Representation to Ukraine.

"The frigate Toronto of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Santa Maria frigate of the Spanish Navy will arrive in Odessa after patrolling the Black Sea together with other ships within the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two," the edition said, adding that the visit will come on April 1.

A record number of candidates - 39 people - will take part in Ukraine’s presidential election set for March 31, 2019. According to latest opinion polls, comedian Vladimir Zelensky (24.9%) leads the race, followed by the head of the Batkivshchina (or Fatherland) party Yulia Timoshenko (18.8%) and trailing behind her is incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko (17.4%).
