Thw two presidents held talks in Moscow March 26

MOSCOW, March 26./TASS/. The Russian and Lebanese presidents, Vladimir Putin and Michel Aoun supported the process of political settlement in Syria and fight against terrorism in that country in a joint statement following talks in Moscow on Tuesday.

"Respecting independence, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as proceeding from the fundamental stance on the lack of alternative to a peaceful settlement of the Syrian problem, [Russia and Lebanon] come out in favor of political-diplomatic settlement of the conflict in that country on the basis of Resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council and decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi," said the document posted on the Kremlin website.

"[Russia and Lebanon] express strong support for the efforts taken by the authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic and its allies in fight against terrorism represented by Islamic State, Jabhat al-Nusra (outlawed in Russia) and groups affiliated to them," the leaders said in the statement.
