Ukrainian forces break ‘spring ceasefire’ in Donbass - DPR

Ukrainian forces "have opened fire five times on the Donetsk People’s Republic, including with the use of banned weapons"

DONETSK, March 8. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Armed Forces violated the ‘spring ceasefire’ five minutes after it came into force, Ruslan Yakubov, head of the mission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire (JCCC), said on Friday.

"Just five minutes after the sides’ renewed commitments to keep a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire had come into effect, they were broken by Ukraine’s armed units," Yakubov said cited by the Donetsk news agency as saying.

According to the DPR envoy, Ukrainian forces "have opened fire five times on the Donetsk People’s Republic, including with the use of banned weapons."

A new ceasefire, which the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group seeking peace for east Ukraine had agreed on Thursday, came into force in Donbass at midnight (Kiev time) on March 8.
