CARACAS, February 21. /TASS/. The US government plans to use the territory of Caribbean countries to stage illegal operations aimed at overthrowing the Venezuelan government, the Latin American country's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

"Venezuela expresses its concern over convincing evidence that the US is using the territory of some Caribbean countries to plan and organize illegal terrorist operations in the framework of their strategy to depose Venezuela's legitimate authorities and establish a puppet government by the means of direct intervention in Venezuela," the foreign ministry said.

Caracas contacted "the authorities in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and several other countries in the region to warn them," the ministry added.
