Kiev ready for heinous provocations ahead of presidential election, says Moscow

Pyotr Poroshenko's main aim is to shift voters’ attention "to the warfare in Donbass, holding Russia responsible for failures in his own policy," the ministry said. the Russian Foreign Ministry said

MOSCOW, February 19./TASS/. The Kiev authorities do not stop at heinous provocations in the run-up to the presidential election, trying to drag OSCE observers into them, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on Tuesday.

"It seems that Kiev deliberately continues ‘unfreezing’ the situation in the region, trying to intimidate its residents," the ministry said. "All this fits within the logic of the gathering pace election campaign of [Ukrainian President] Pyotr Poroshenko, whose main aim is to shift voters’ attention from problems in the economy and the social sector, mass impoverishment, practical exodus of able-bodied population, persecutions against the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, to the warfare in Donbass, holding Russia responsible for failures in his own policy," the ministry said.

"In this game, Kiev doesn’t stop at most heinous provocations, trying to drag OSCE observers into them, putting them under attacks," the ministry stated.
