SOCHI, February 13. /TASS/. The UN Security Council should be reformed by expanding the representation of developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America as a matter of priority, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint press conference after negotiations with his Lesotho’s counterpart Lesego Makgothi on Wednesday.
As Russia’s top diplomat said, the sides discussed the reformation of the UN Security Council.
"We stressed once again that the decision expanding as a matter of priority the representation of developing countries of Asia, Latin America and necessarily Africa in the UN Security Council has no alternative," Lavrov noted.
"For us, this is an absolutely no-alternative approach," Russia’s top diplomat stressed.
Russia’s foreign minister said he was grateful to partners from Lesotho for the support of the Russian initiatives in the United Nations, including with regard to the fight against the glorification of Nazism, the strengthening of international information security, the prevention of the deployment of weapons in outer space and stressed that both sides held unified positions on the most acute problems faced by the international community.
