Reset in Russian-French relations already occurred, says ambassador in Moscow

Sylvie Bermann recalled that in 2018, president Emmanuel Macron visited Russia three times

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. A reset in the dialogue between Moscow and Paris occurred during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron almost two years ago, French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie Bermann told TASS.

"This reset occurred when the French and Russian presidents met on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France in Russia in May 2017 in Versailles," she said.

"In 2018, our president visited Russia three times," Bermann went on to say. "He attended the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the FIFA World Cup and met with Mr. Putin twice. I believe that our French-Russian dialogue is demanding, regular and permanent."

The diplomat drew attention to the fact that the two leaders spoke over the phone regularly discussing Syria, Ukraine, cyber security and other issues. "The French president also spoke about creating a new security structure in Europe that would be of interest to Russia," she added.
