Putin shows Abe around his office at Kremlin

Japanese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Takeshi Osuga told after that, the leaders returned to the meeting room and the small group meeting began

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has took Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on a small tour around his study while Abe was in Kremlin during the Russian-Japanese negotiations, Japanese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Takeshi Osuga stated on Tuesday during a briefing on the outcomes of the talks between Putin and Abe.

Osuga noted that after the reporters left the room where the leaders said their opening words, Abe noted that he liked the building and stated that, as far as he knew, the Russian leader’s office is located there.

"President Putin responded "Is it your first time here in this building?"... and President Putin took Prime Minister Abe and his interpreter to his personal office and took him around his office for about five minutes," Osaga said. "After that, they returned to the meeting room and the small group meeting began."

The Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that in total, the Russian-Japanese talks lasted for about three hours. He also reported that the two leaders discussed the issue of the peace treaty for close to one hour during a tete-a-tete meeting.

"We were told by Prime Minister Abe that during this tete-a-tete meeting, he could have a very frank exchange of views with President Putin on the issue of the peace treaty," Osuga pointed out.
