TEL AVIV, January 20. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that his country’s policy is geared not to let Iran establish itself in Syria.

"Our policy is unchanged: to undermine the establishment of Iran in Syria and to strike at anyone who tries to harm us," Netanyahu, who is currently on a visit to Chad, wrote on his Twitter account following reports about Israeli air force delivering a strike on targets in neighboring Syria.

Earlier in the day, Russia’s national defense management center reported that Syrian air defense systems had repelled an attack by Israeli F-16 fighter jets at the Duwali international airport in the southeast of Damascus. Seven missiles were downed. Still earlier, SANA news agency reported about the Israeli air attack.
