Twenty people dead, over 70 injured in gas pipeline explosion in Mexico

The gas pipeline exploded near the town of Tlahuelilpan where dozens of people were collecting fuel

MEXICO CITY, January 19. /TASS/. At least 71 people were injured after a ruptured gas pipeline exploded in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, the state's governor Omar Fayad wrote on his Twitter account.

"Latest reports indicate that 71 people were injured and 20 people died," Fayad wrote. "We are taking all necessary measures to help those injured and support families of those who were impacted by the incident," he added.

The gas pipeline exploded near the town of Tlahuelilpan where dozens of people were collecting fuel.

The authorities of the Mexico City sent four helicopters to Hidalgo to assist those injured in the incident.
