Imminent threat of neo-Nazi alliance in Europe exists, top Russian security official warns

MOSCOW, December 26. / TASS /. The head of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev does not rule out a formation of a neo-Nazi alliance in Europe, said he in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta on Wednesday.

"Today there is a close prospect of the formation of a neo-Nazi union in Europe," Patrushev believes. This is facilitated by the course of revising history, primarily the recognized outcome of WWII, taken by a number of Western states," Patrushev added. "Revision and falsification of historical facts is used, among other things, to incite Russophobic sentiment and anti-Russian propaganda." According to Patrushev, the liberation of Europe from Nazism by the Soviet army is hushed up, while the crimes of the Hitler regime and its accomplices are deliberately understated, and some 'young Europeans" even see as heroic.

According to him, Russia and a number of other countries, in particular, Israel, actively advocate the fight against Nazism. "As for the position of the United States and some European countries, there’s nothing surprising or new about this," said he. "It’s enough to recall that the West turned a blind eye to the rise of Nazism after World War I. Many prominent politicians in Great Britain, France, and the USA saw in the Nazis in 1920-1930 potential allies, who could be easily sent to a "crusade" against the Soviet Union. " Patrushev also recalled that it was the investments from the United States that helped Adolf Hitler in just a few years to create a gigantic military industry. "At the same time, the cooperation of the Nazis and the American business did not stop even after the USA entered the WWII," he noted. "Businessmen and bankers from the "country of freedom" actively traded with Hitler Germany through third countries, supplying the scarce goods to the enemy and thus giving the Nazis opportunity to continue the war.".
