Three Syrian soldiers killed in shelling on Aleppo region — reconciliation center

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Three servicemen of the Syrian army have been killed and nine more were wounded in shelling by militants in the Aleppo region, Lieutenant General Sergei Solomatin, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of conflicting sides in Syria, told reporters on Saturday.

"In the past 24 hours, shelling by militants was documented in Beyt-Siwan, Akch-Baer, Safsafa and Basharfa in Latakia province, Zor-Mahruka, Abu-Dali and Achan (two times) in Hama province, and Tall-Mamo in Aleppo province as well as on the southwestern outskirts and a district of Sukkari (three times) in Aleppo," he said. "As a result of the attack against Tall-Mamo, two Syrian soldiers were killed and nine wounded. Another Syrian soldier was killed in the attack on Aleppo’s southwestern outskirts."

According to the Russian general, the Syrian authorities carry on the amnesty work for those who have shunned military service. Among them are refugees and former members of illegal armed groups. As of December 14, 17,017 people have been amnestied under the Syrian president’s decree.

The center "continues to help in rebuilding infrastructure and creating conditions for the return of refugees. As of December 15, 2018, 30,854 houses, 712 educational and 118 healthcare facilities have been rebuilt and 936 kilometers of motor ways have been repaired," he concluded.

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
