Putin to skip December climate conference in Poland

\The United Nations Climate Change Conference will be held in Katowice on December 2-15

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not planning to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poland’s Katowice on December 2-15, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"The president’s schedule does not have this [event]," Peskov said, noting that Russia may be represented at this conference by a government official.

The UN Climate Change Conference (COP 24) is an annual forum on the development of global climate policy. Poland has hosted this major international event twice: in 2008 in Poznan and in 2013 in Warsaw. This year the republic expects that nearly 40,000 guests from 200 countries will take part.
