Aleppo toxic gas attack carried out with help of some countries - Syrian Foreign Ministry

The Syrian government has called on the UN Security Council to condemn the militants’ attack in Aleppo

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. The attack on Syria’s Aleppo occurred as certain countries helped armed groups to get access to chemical substances, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement sent to the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General, according to SANA news agency.

"This terrorist act comes as a result of facilitating terrorists’ access to chemical substances by some states with the aim of using them against the Syrian people and accusing the Syrian Government of that through plays whose scenario had been previously prepared at the black rooms of the intelligence of some states which sponsor terrorism," the statement said.

The Syrian government has called on the UN Security Council to condemn the militants’ attack in Aleppo and "shoulder its responsibilities in preserving the international peace and security through taking deterrent, immediate and punitive measures against the states and regimes which support and fund terrorism."

Earlier, SANA news agency reported that at least 107 civilians were hospitalized after militants had fired shells at Aleppo containing toxic gases. Many cases of asphyxiation were reported.

On Saturday, Surya government TV channel reported that the shelling targeted a crowded Nil Street, Al-Khalidiyah and Jam’ayat al-Zahra neighborhoods. Police blamed the Jabhat al-Nusra (terror group outlawed in Russia) for the attack.

Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Russian military chemical experts had arrived in Aleppo. According to the general, preliminary data indicates that chlorine was used in the attack.
