Russia's top diplomat: vote at OPCW accompanied by blackmail, bribery by Western states

Sergei Lavrov said that the Western colleagues' decisions happen to ignore "the others' opinion"

MINSK, November 21. /TASS/. The vote on granting attributive functions to the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was accompanied by blackmail and bribery by the Western countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference on Wednesday.

"How our Western colleagues deal with this problem now, how they change the essence of the Chemical Weapons Convention by pushing a decision and the vote, this is no more an international law, but an order based on the rules, which our Western colleagues wanted to establish at their own discretion, absolutely disregarding the others’ opinion," Lavrov said after a joint meeting of the Russian and Belarussian Foreign Ministries’ board.

"We know that a whole series of steps had accompanied this, including blackmail and bribery," Russia’s top diplomat stressed.
