Kabul explosion kills 55, leaves dozens injured — media

November 21 was declared a day of mourning

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Tuesday's banquet hall explosion in the Afghan capital of Kabul killed at least 55 and left another 94 wounded, the 1TV broadcaster reported on Wednesday, citing the country’s Health Ministry.

On Tuesday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a Prophet Muhammad's Birthday celebration. No militant groups active in Afghanistan have claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani expressed condolences over the Kabul attack. November 21 was declared a day of mourning.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council strongly condemned the Kabul explosion. Guterres also conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.
