Norway’s defense ministry claimed on Tuesday that "between October 16 and November 7, jamming of the GPS signal was observed" and blamed it on "Russian forces on the Kola Peninsula"

HELSINKI, November 16. /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov has been summoned to appear at the Finnish foreign ministry on Monday over allegations that Russia jammed GPS signal during NATO’s Trident Juncture, Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini said on Friday.

"Kuznetsov was summoned for Monday morning to discuss the situation over the jams in GPS operation," he told the Finnish News Agency.

The Russian embassy was unavailable for comment.

Norway’s defense ministry claimed on Tuesday that "between October 16 and November 7, jamming of the GPS signal was observed" and "Russian forces on the Kola Peninsula are behind that."

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told earlier reporters that the Kremlin does not have any information about GPS failures during NATO’s military drills. "There is a trend to blame all mortal sins on Russia. As a rule, these allegations are unfounded," he said. "We know nothing about Russia’s possible involvement in those GPS failures."

Between October 25 and November 7Norway hosted the active phase of NATO’s Trident Juncture military exercises, involving about 50,000 servicemen from 31 states (29 NATO members, Finland and Sweden). The Russian Foreign Ministry said that such a massive demonstration of combat capabilities "are clearly oriented against Russia and have a negative effect on the security of all countries in the region without exception.".
