US carries out airstrikes in Syria using white phosphorus munitions, Moscow says

The foreign ministry spokeswoman recalled that Syria’s SANA news agency earlier reported that over 60 civilians had been wounded in these airstrikes

MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. US aircraft have resumed airstrikes against targets in Syria with the use of white phosphorus munitions, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"The Americans have resumed intense airstrikes against inhabited communities on the western bank of the Euphrates controlled by terrorists, including with the use of white phosphorus munitions, according to locals," she said.

The diplomat recalled that Syria’s SANA news agency earlier reported that over 60 civilians had been wounded in these airstrikes.

"In light of that, the Syrian Foreign Ministry sent two letters to the UN secretary general and the UN Security Council president, in which it demanded an end to such attacks and called for investigating these crimes, condemning them and punishing those responsible for them," she said.
