Putin expects to preserve established dialogue with Japanese PM

The Russian leader also congratulated Abe on his re-election as head of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party

SINGAPORE, November 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin expects to preserve the current dialogue with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"I am glad to discuss with you all areas of our cooperation, including the ones that you considered to be priority ones," the Russian leader said at the beginning of the conversation with the Japanese prime minister in Singapore. "We will still have a meeting at the Twenty (the G20 summit in Argentina), and there is a schedule of further contacts as well," the Russian president added.

The Russian leader also congratulated the Japanese prime minister on his re-election as head of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party. "It gives hope for a continuation of our dialogue the way it was established in the last years," Putin noted.

The Russian president also noted that relations between Russia and Japan "are gradually developing, we are keeping in contact." "The trade turnover is growing: last year it increased by almost 14%, and by 17.7% more in the first nine months of this year," the Russian leader said.

The Japanese prime minister noted, for his part, that he is ready to meet with Putin and thanked him for warm welcome in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September. Abe noted the work of the two sides to organize joint economic activity.

The Japanese prime minister welcomed the contacts between Moscow and Tokyo in the sphere of defense.
