Israel strikes over 70 military targets in Gaza in response to rocket fire

On Monday, militants from Gaza launched over 200 rockets at Israel

TEL AVIV, November 12. /TASS/. Israeli forces have struck over 70 military targets in Gaza, the army press service said on Monday.

"Throughout the day, terrorist organizations from the Gaza Strip have been launching rockets, aiming at Israeli civilians," the military said in a statement. "In response, Israeli Defense Forces' fighter jets, military helicopters, drones and tanks have struck over 70 military targets of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza over the last several hours."

Among the destroyed targets in Gaza were eight military training camps, military and observation posts, three terrorist tonnels, and a weapons workshop. Hamas terrorist organization is responsible for all events happenning or initiated in the Gaza territory, the army added.

On Monday, militants from Gaza launched over 200 rockets at Israel. Sixty rockets were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome air defense system. Ten people were wounded in Gaza rocket fire, doctors said. 

Israeli Defense Forces also confirmed that one servicemen was seriously injured. "Earlier today an Israeli soldier was seriously wounded in rocket fire from the Gaza Strip in the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council," the military said in a statement.

The Israeli army has boosted forces near the Gaza border after the rocket fire, military spokesman Jonathan Conricus told a press briefing. "We already had considerable forces there but in light of recent events, we boosted forces with additional infrantry troops, defensive systems and intelligence units," Conricus said adding that Israel is ready to step up its efforts against Palestinian militants.
