MINSK, November 4. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has called on the nation to get united to be able to stand up to the present-day challenges and threats.

"We are not rich but we never go begging. We can earn our happiness by ourselves. If we don’t stay idle we will be able to do everything by ourselves," BELTA news agency quoted him as saying during a working trip to the Vitebsk region.

He stressed that Belarusians are peaceful people who are against wars. "I have always been saying that tens and hundreds of years of talks are better than one day of warfare," he said. "To ensure peaceful life we must get united, we must see our goals and live as we think right.".
