Intergovernmental commission to develop measures for increase of goods flows, says Putin

The statement came following Putin's talks with the leader of Cuba

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Leaders of Russia and Cuba agreed to give an assignment to the bilateral intergovernmental commission to develop specific measures for buildup of goods and investment flows, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday at a press conference after talks with President of Cuba Miguel D·az-Canel Berm·dez.

"Mr. Diaz-Canel and I instructed the intergovernmental commission, which held the next meeting this week in Havana, to develop specific measures for buildup of counter flows of goods and expansion of investment cooperation," the Russian President said. The bilateral turnover increased by 17% in 2017, the head of state said. "These are modest indicators and turnovers in absolute figures so far," Putin said, adding that "we know what to do further on."

Negotiations were considerable and made possible to discuss the whole range of bilateral interaction, the Russian President said. The parties reviewed current issues of regional and international agenda during talks, Putin said.

"Russia offers help to Cuba in building transport infrastructure facilities," the Russian leader said. "For instance, we talked today about the upgrade of the Cuban railway network, which will increase the national passenger traffic in future by three times and the goods traffic - twofold," Putin said.

"The Russian business is ready to proactively participate in implementation of the large-scale upgrade of the Cuban national economy," he added.
