Over 70% of Lugansk People’s Republic citizens plan to vote in upcoming elections — poll

At least 72% of the respondents said they were ready to participate in the vote

LUGANSK, November 1. /TASS/. The voter turnout during the elections in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), set to take place on November 11, may reach over 70%, a local sociological research center "Special Status" informed.

"72% of respondents said they are ready to participate in the vote: 52.3% are confident they will vote, while 19.7% are likely to head to the polls," the Luganskinformcenter news agency quotes head of the research center Alexander Protsenko as saying.

Protsenko also noted that over 63% of pollsters stated they would vote for Leonid Pasechnik as head of the LPR, 11.1% would support OIeg Koval, while 3.9% and 1.8% would give their vote to Natalya Sergun and Lyudmila Rusnak respectively. 19.9% of the voters are still undecided.

The survey was held on the territory of the LPR via street interviews, using multi-stage sampling (gender, age, place of residence). The total number of respondents is one thousand people.

The decision to hold elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) was taken after the murder of DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko. Moscow said holding local elections in Donbass is a necessary measure in current conditions. Russia's envoy to the Contact Group on Ukraine Boris Gryzlov said that the Package of Measures signed in Minsk only regulates the municipal elections in Donbass. Since the election of DPR and LPR’s leaders and members of parliaments is not classified as municipal, it does not contradict the Minsk process, he added.
