Alexander Lukashenko believes it is necessary to discuss the option of deploying a joint mission of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to Ukraine

MINSK, October 31. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes it is necessary to discuss the option of deploying a joint mission of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to Ukraine.

"It’s necessary to further search for a mutually acceptable solution on deploying peacekeepers to Donbass. Maybe, we should consider the option of deploying a joint UN and OSCE mission to Ukraine," Lukashenko said at the Munich Security Conference Core Group’s meeting on Wednesday.

The mission could involve "military, police officers and civilian personnel" from the countries, which have made their contribution to resolving the conflict. "We need to ensure a phasing principle of deploying this mission," Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian leader also called for stepping up the effort in the Normandy format (Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine) to ensure a clear mechanism of control over the Minsk deal’s implementation. "However, judging by the previous years there are fears that this won’t be enough again.".
