Russian, German, French, Turkish leaders continue Istanbul talks on Syria

After the talks, the leaders are expected to make statements for the media

ISTANBUL, October 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan resumed the Syria talks in Istanbul after a break on Saturday. By the time of reporting, the talks have lasted for about one hour.

The four-party summit meeting began in Istanbul’s Vahdettin Pavilion, an official residence of Turkey’s president, at about 16.20 local time. After Erdogan’s introductory remarks, the talks are being held behind closed doors.

After the talks, the leaders are expected to make statements for the media.

Before the summit meeting, the leaders had held some bilateral meetings. Putin first met with Erdogan and then with Merkel.

During a photo ceremony before the summit, Putin had a brief conversation with Macron. On Saturday morning, they had already spoken by phone before flying to Istanbul.
