Russia and Italy may create an investment platform, says Putin

This agreement was reached several years ago but then it was suspended, the president recalled

MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. Russia and Italy may create an investment platform to help Italian companies operate in the Russian market, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

"A major initiative is being considered to establish a Russian-Italian investment platform. This agreement was reached several years ago but then it was suspended. Today we spoke with the Prime Minister [of Italy Giuseppe Conte], we consider it necessary to resume this work," the head of the Russian state said at a meeting with the leaders of leading Italian companies.

"With the establishment of such a new structure, it will become much easier for Italian companies to get accommodated on the Russian market," Putin said.

"In Russia we are striving to create the most comfortable conditions for attracting foreign investments and technologies, including Italian ones. The administrative procedures have been simplified, the latest infrastructure is being created, investors receive significant preferences in a number of regions of the Russian Federation. The Russian Direct Investment Fund is engaged in a lot of activities on attracting foreign capital," the Russian leader noted.

He also said that later on Wednesday, the RDIF will sign agreements with several Italian partners.
